That worked on the SDD, with the same HW error messages. Running from the HDD I tried to use DW Version 5 to rebuild and check the HW status of all four boot partitions. I used Super Duper to copy the two boot partitions from the HDD to the SDD. Either the Zero option was greyed out, or I couldn't figure it out.Ħ. Booted on the HDD and backed up both HDD partitions, using both TM and Super Duper.ĥ. I used Super Duper to copy the two boot partitions from the SDD to the HDD. I installed a new 1TB HDD (I have had two of these for about two years), with two partitions inside my Mac Pro, in addition to the SDD.Ĥ. I used Super Duper to clone one of my boot partitions to the second partition of each drive.ģ. My TM drives each have a second partition. These backups include both drive partitions.Ģ. Two more Time Machine (TM) Backups (I was running several per day since I started running DW 5, which produced the error messages) to two external drives. I now realize I did not need to post this, because bad drive or not my initial response (through step four below) would be the same. Alsoft support is deeply familiar with this, so if they say that it's probably bad blocks the odds favor their intuitive response. Anyone (besides me) talked to Alsoft support? DW says I have bad blocksĬertain DiskWarrior errors are almost always indicative of bad blocks and the only way to actually identify them would be to zero the drive to map them out. They just ensure that you don’t offend anyone, and produce bland inoffensive products. You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead.īy believing all possible evil of evil men. I've been to the edge of the map, and there be monsters. Insisting on your rights without acknowledging your responsibilities isn’t freedom, it’s adolescence. Your boos mean nothing to me, I've seen what you cheer for. So it's not surprising that there could be/are bugs in the new version. Last edit at 03:52PM by MitchJi.Īnyway, working with Alsoft to figure out why odd (and seemingly wrong) error messages appear.Īlsoft hasn't really undated DW in like- forever. One other unexpected result that might be a problem is there are now two recovery partitions on the drive.Įdited 1 time(s). Yasu, Snapz Pro X, Audio Hijack, Default Folder X, USB Overdrive, Firefox and TextWrangler. Spent several hours installing software and setting it up and testing that it works with Webinars and testing that Snapz Pro X can record movies with audio (most of this could have been avoided if I had used Super Duper to copy the partitions ): My attempts to restore this partition (snow leopard - so I could run the Mountain Lion installation to upgrade it) from my TM backups failed (when I tried to boot the mac would die, no power). I had to erase the smaller partition, and manually enter the capacity. First I reduced the size of the bigger partition (which went smoothly). Last week I discovered that with Yosemite I can't capture audio when using Snapz Pro X to capture webinars (watching webinars requires Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later), so I decided to upgrade the snow leopard partition to Mountain Lion.ĭoing that required repartitioning the drive to, get enough space to run the Mountain Lion installation (I backed up both partitions with TM first). About 3 weeks ago I " upgraded" the larger partition to Yosemite. I use the smaller partition for running DW and one legacy program. I do almost all of my work on the larger partition. I have a boot drive with 2 partitions that had snow leopard on one, and Mountain Lion (about 90% of the drive) on another. I am not sure if I caused the problem this weekend or if it already existed, because DW4 does not report the problem, and I received and ran DW5 right after my major disk changes, which I briefly describe below: Originally available: 3, Reassignment attempts: 121. This indicates bad blocks and could result in loss of data. The hard drive's built-in tracking indicates all of the spare blocks have been exhausted.
